It is important to note that the speeds are for single channel usage.
Many B and G routers had "turbo" mode that essentially doubled up
channel usage for double speed. Many G products supported 108mbs speeds.

The big deal of N is the multiple antennas and the ability to dig down
to the signal deeper in the noise. This is how the range is improved.
