Hi All. I have been using VoicePulse Connect for Asterisk (VOIP SIP termination) for 2 1/2 years and have been more or less happy. But, starting mid-summer, something changed with them. Their rates went way up and the call audio quality has been steadily tanking (both in the wrong directions! :-)).
Anyways, I decided it was time to re-eval. So, from anyone here who is involved with VOIP/SIP/IAX2/etc, any suggestions for suitable alternatives that have met your satisfaction would be greatly appreciated. I had been happy with VPC's pay-as-you-go billing, so, that is definitely one thing I am going to be hoping to find again. Seems VOIP providers still come and go in cycles. My needs are small (just my oonsulting operation), so, I am not looking for contracted SIP termination. I am headed over to voip-info.org shortly to see where the ratings stand today for best offerings. But, I wanted to see what you guys would be recommending today as well. Another thing that was a little disconcerting with VPC in addition to their unannounced rate hike in July (quadrupaling in most cases), was that their Twitter site which has always been fairly well updated ceased having updates on June 14th with announcement about having to reroute all traffic around a "network problem". They are a private company, but, I suspect they sold to someone and/or changed something signifigant in management. Call quality today was so bad that I thought I was on MagicJack. Honestly, I am happy for VPC to make money and was OK with the new rates, but, crap call quality I cannot afford. I might as well stick with POTS and FXO ports. Comcast Digital Voice might be one option along those lines. Thanks for any suggestions! ________________________________________________________ Mark J.
