Unfortunately, Money is spent on dealing with Microsoft licenses,
Registry errors, and other desktop computer chaos. Whereas, the money
spent on 'Microsoft tax' cannot be spent on other issues. Thus --
organizations that have to pay the Microsoft tax have less payment
"cash" flow to use on other expenses, investments, charity, dividends,
and so forth. Imagine the reduction in the amount of cash that a
local public school district or county expenses annually in Microsoft
and IT chaos tax. If authorized such a scheme, and executed throughly
-- some estimates are Microsoft and IT chaos expenses halved. If such
an estimate was forecasted correctly, and turns out to be accurate
after the scheme is executed. The excess cash saved could be used for
other local use, such as: more teachers, more schools, no increase in
property tax, etc.

As I recall, most employers in the Metro Nashville area use and deal
with the chaos of Microsoft Windows on a daily basis.

Walking down the high street one day, I saw an advert telly showing
Windows errors instead of the ad. Most universities use it as well.
However when I was typing and typesetting my research thesis, I was
frustrated with Microsoft Office. So I looked for other solutions,
and decided to try using Desktop GNU/Linux -- as I had been using
Solarius on the University Supercomputer. So after getting tired of
having to re-install programs, and re-setup my computer about every
two years. I also was tired of the daily updates, registry errors,
viruses, and memory hogs. That I converted to Desktop GNU/Linux 6
years ago this month.

However with Opera I generally can confuse the Win IIS to think I am
using IE.

I wonder how much money would have been put to better use had Red
Hat, Caldera, Debian, or Suse had been used instead of Windows in
most schools, businesses, and organizations. However these
Tennesseans typically think either Apple Mac PC or Windows PC.
Perhaps the additional GNU/Linux PC can be added as another choice
when they think about IT.
