I figure that giving any answers past that point requires knowing
specific info about what the new user wants to do with their system and
what hardware they have. That sort of thing will obviously vary with the
user.

Also, would it be "uncool" to go "extremely basic" and use a marker and
whiteboard, rather than creating a fancy digital presentation full of
graphics? I should probably also ask if there will be a board and
markers available, huh? ;-)

Bravo Joey! Great syllabus. I'd even be ready for lesson four.
I disagree about using the whiteboard. The key is to create an
extremely basic PPT with just the bullets and maybe a web URL or two.
You can always jump to the whiteboard to drill down on a topic. I do
agree about _NOT_ doing a fancy digital presentation. Keep It Sweet and
Simple: the topic AND the presentation.
Wish I could be there.
