Those attending last night's meeting may have heard me asking if anyone
had had to disable windowsblacklist.com (on a customer WindowsXP
machine). Forgive the victory whoop; got the bugger!
Beware of a faux anti-malware program "Antivir." It is malware in and
of itself. I had removed this program through the normal, control
panel, process but it leaves a nasty vestige. Should one encounter a
WindowsXP machine that cannot get to Google, Facebook and other common
sites, check for \WINDOWS\system32\UpdateCheck.dll. Unregister this dll
and get it off the system!!
{minimal linux content} I booted system from Ubuntu live disk so I
didn't have to mess with permissions to delete the ~...@#$%^ :)
