I worked for Motorola in Austin for a while in the '90s. While I was there they celebrated selling over 1 Billion of one flavor of one of their 68xx processors (I forgot which it was). Ok Apple's changing processor using A4 (an Apple rather than Intel design) instead of Intel on iPad may change a little, but IMHO unless there is a real change in useful architecture that is widely accepted, Intel is still there for the long haul.
The Intel processor is getting a bit long in the tooth, but no one has been able to come up with a different architecture for mass market use that catches on in quite a while.
