I've run into a puzzling problem at work. I've got a box that I will usually SSH into, but occasionally go to the console.
The monitor works fine with other computers (on a KVM), but this box has an older video card. It will intermittently go to power save mode, even failed once when I was in the BIOS setup. Sometimes it works fine. Changed cables, plugged directly into the second DVI input (and changed on-screen input), changed the video card with an identical from another machine, no go. Plug into a slightly smaller monitor right beside it and no problem. The intermittently working monitor has a slightly higher resolution, so I thought it may be trying to push the old graphics card too hard, but I wouldn't think that would matter in BIOS setup would it?
