Oh man I just went through cell phone hell to find a phone and provider.

Sprint/Nextel/Clear/Virgin is the cheapest. Yes they are owned by same
shareholders. Comcrap is in there somewhere too. Good phones though I
had 1 DOA Blackberry and I didn't like the Pixi OS. So I returned.

Verizon -- $hittest phones out at least on free ones. I had 2 DOA
Blackberries. Then they charged me a termination fee in the first 30
days saying they were prorating my data used. Which their rep at the
Verizon store used to reflash the machine. These I find to be in the
mid range of prices.

ATT -- I purchased a Motorola Bravo. This Android 2.1 phone has
slipped under the radar because I don't hear it talked about much. It
is just a little larger than an old touch screen MP3 player I had.
This phone is completely T/Scrn. The coolest feature is Swype typing.
The best I can describe it is likened as to cursive writing typing.
ATT is the most pricey, BUT think about where you go if you travel.
They are in the fringes where Vzn and Sprint aren't. The have a Canada
plan published with the USA plans. Coverage wise I would say they are
the Best. It helps that they have a Canada plan because the Bravo is a
world/quad band phone. You MUST download from Market an app called DNS
Settings. Some wonderful dev in their infinite wisdom is running the
phone in IPV6 with a IPV4 tunnel that won't work on your home wifi
without a DNS. Otherwise no other issues.

When I spoke to like Level 4/5 devs I suggested that as a world phone
they needed to have a toggle widget so a non-rooted phone could run on
IPV4 in the USA, but if the user went overseas they could easily flip
a widget toggle and be running in IPV6. I have yet to see a batch. I
basically suggested then if you all don't do some toggling that you're
going to encourage jailbreaking/rooting to get the need net
functionality easily.
