Local is good, but if the RW heads are shot, then you need someone
with a clean room to disassemble the drive and either replace / repair
or have a spare you can move the the platters into.  Don't expect to
get your drive back either.

I have used DriveSavers before, they were excellent though not cheap.
The service they provided was recovering data from a repartitioned and
overwritten drive, not a drive with physical problems, though they
have a very good reputation.  They also have a 24/7 telephone number
you can call for a quote.
