Hello Everyone, Here at Trevecca we are working on implementing Citrix VDI across campus. We have been using the Citrix Receiver for Linux on CentOS on some of our aging, low-end Celeron Dell Optiplex 170L and GX520 Desktops. Currently we simply have CentOS autologin and open firefox to the proper URL to allow the user to input their credentials which grants them access to an aspx javascript file which, when clicked, launches the Citrix receiver with the proper ICA file for the virtual desktop they have access to.
What we would like to do however, is simply pass through their credentials straight from the gdm login screen (or some similar login-type program) to the citrix receiver, and launch straight into the virtual desktop, without the desktop having to first load a browser and without requiring the end user to click on a link. Also, I was wondering if it would be wise to use a lighter/faster distribution than CentOS, yet still have full driver support for 170L and GX520 Desktops. I have been sticking with Gnome since it includes Gstreamer, which, according to Citrix's documentation, is used by the citrix receiver to improve the quality of video performance. Hopefully there are others who have used the citrix receiver for linux and have some advice, I will continue to scour other forums as well, but any input would be greatly appreciated. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "NLUG" group.
