Doing some more research Backblaze - the stories in c0t0d0s0.org are
by a Sun storage engineer, and have a different perspective on storage
servers.

It looks like the current version use RAID6, with LVM, and ext4 file
system. The boot drive is 2 smaller hardware mirrored drives just for
swap and most of the storage for the server. The box is a custom box,
and Backblaze

The drives the article said they use are Hitachi Deskstar 5K3000
HDS5C3030ALA630 - some 3G desktop, 7200RPM but lower powered drives.
Backblaze suggest ONLY using drives with 3 to 5 year replacement
warranty, because they WILL FAIL eventually. Keep spares around.

Still haven't figured out what software they are really using for
either their server or client. Still, could probably use something
like the turnkey linux backup server image.
