The old 3-2-1 of backups probably has a cloud corollary. 3 copies 2 different media 1 offsite
For Cloud Backup... (my version... a work in progress) could be 3 copies 2 different data centers 1 on-site (at least one 'downloaded backup of cloud data') If your data in 'on the cloud' anyway, backing it up to another cloud (in a different geography) is OK having a one 'off the net' backup or more makes sense to me to. And these are minimums in my opinion. My wife has a web site that gets used a fair amount. It is backed up at the ISP, but I also have a 'download backup', and when she does maintenance, it is modified locally then the updates are FTPed up to the site. We have lost ISPs before, but having all the backups fail, is unlikely. Still if it was my paycheck, I would be a bit more paranoid. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "NLUG" group.
