Thanks!  I think this is what may be going on, this and previous upgrade
bundles hanging around.

I located the USB port, and got USB debugging turned on.  After a bit I was
able to get it mounted.

Now as for finding the upgrade bundle(s) to delete... I have looked for
files dated today that are good size and have not found it yet.  So I'm not
really sure how to locate this (and previous system updates).  Google
searches have so far not shown how to identify them.

I've found some large files, but I don't want to delete them without
knowing what I'm doing here.  I don't want to create a brick by deleting
the system files or something else important.  (E.g. Android/obb/ contains
some big files, there are a couple of audio books [but they shouldn't be
counted under app should they?], DCIM/.thumbnails/.thumbdata3 [ok, I can
probably delete that without repercussions but again I wouldn't think it
would be counted as applications], etc.)
