To go along with tonight's theme... I did run TeX on a DOS 'laptop' that
was used in language translation for some missionaries. And on my CP/M
system.

TeX is great, but it is a document language, not a word processor, which is
what WORD was designed to be. (Yes there are better alternatives, but it is
pervasive whether we like it or not).

Ok I did use it for word processing, but more more its great mail-merge
capability on my old (huge) 64K byte memory main desktop computer (really
had 61K free RAM, 2K PROM board, and 1K of video ram (Processor Technology
board). The PROM had boot loader for floppy's (8" of course), paper tape
reader/punch, and a small keyboard/display monitor program, as well as
other device drivers. It was compatible with the Intel Intelec system
ROMs, but totally hand coded by friends and me. ... Yep, doing that is how
I turned old and crotchety. Yep, I could have written some of the BOFH
scenario's. http://bofh.ntk.net/BOFH/index.php if you don't know about BOFH.

Different tools meant for different jobs.
