Just for the record:
About "Trusted Computing", the TPM chips in your computer (the FAQ calls it
Fritz chip), and other. Must read:
TCPA FAQ by Ross J Anderson: http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~rja14/tcpa-faq.html
Notice, it dates back to 2003. Basically, the presence of TPM doesn't make
your computer trusted for you. The trust is for others, basically there can
be a section of your computer what you cannot access and cannot control and
cannot tamper with. This can be used for DRM purposes (I can mathematically
prove that any kind of DRM is breakable in an open system, since the player
software has every information to decode audio/video data, you just have to
get that info). Or other purposes.

Why I wasn't surprised about the whole data collection and PRISM stuff:

Notice, this dates back to 1997.
