Yup he tried that and removing everything out of that cache. I really don't think this is a yum issue at all. Howard, you said that the command :
curl "http://mirrorlist.centos.org/?release=6&arch=i386&repo=os" "keeps looping", which to me means that it's hitting every single one of these ip's : 72.232.223.58 204.15.73.243 64.235.47.134 69.30.193.218 and isn't getting anywhere. Then you said that wget was "working" and that you could download the mirrorlist, did you verify that the file that wget outputted was actually the text that I forwarded in the email previously? Just forget wget for now. If you run the curl command above it should not loop, it should immediately show you this output : http://mirror.ancl.hawaii.edu/linux/centos/6.5/os/i386/ http://mirrors.bluehost.com/centos/6.5/os/i386/ http://holmes.umflint.edu/centos/6.5/os/i386/ http://mirror.cogentco.com/pub/linux/centos/6.5/os/i386/ ftp://ftp.ussg.iu.edu/linux/centos/6.5/os/i386/ http://mirror.san.fastserv.com/pub/linux/centos/6.5/os/i386/ http://bay.uchicago.edu/centos/6.5/os/i386/ http://mirror.tocici.com/centos/6.5/os/i386/ http://mirror.nwresd.org/pub/centos/6.5/os/i386/ http://centos-mirror.jchost.net/6.5/os/i386/ I ran it several times from various hosts on various ISPs (at least in Nashville) and got the same thing multiple times, Piping the curl to md5sum gave me the same hash everytime, so you should get this exact same hash : % curl "http://mirrorlist.centos.org/?release=6&arch=i386&repo=os" | md5sum % Total % Received % Xferd Average Speed Time Time Time Current Dload Upload Total Spent Left Speed 100 499 0 499 0 0 3885 0 --:--:-- --:--:-- --:--:-- 5483 7f47ea9c24114899a224861a34f8d559 - Again, if you're not getting that then you have connectivity issues somewhere else and it's not a yum problem.
