anyone know of anyone near him that would be willing to visit with him
and help him get linux up and running? (Will need to take iso with you.
If he installs Unbuntu I can probably help him with that over phone and
remote sharing. He has huge medical bills and will not be able to pay
for this help.)
Thanks for your time and consideration. BTW, I belong to the NTLUG and
we have an "install fest" once a month preceding the main meeting where
people can bring their computers and get free help with the installation
of Linux.

Thanks for looking up NLUG, Bobby. The question you ask is something
we'd like to be able to help with. I call to your attention that
Brownsville TN is much closer to Memphis than Nashville though I have
not checked on the status of GOLUM (Group of Linux Users Memphis) in a
long time. For us, there'd be a 2-3 hour drive to get to Brownsville
TN. Okay maybe Dallas to Brownsville TX is an overstatement but.... :)
Crazy as it sounds, I did an over-the-phone install of Mandrake years
ago with a customer in Mexico. That distro at the time took 3 or 4 CDs.
At least with the current Ubuntu, one DVD (of 1.? GB) does the trick.
Or you could send your friend an installer USB stick.
