Except this time its barking at me that files are in use! lsof shows all

Thank you for that caution, Blake. I've made backups but I haven't
tried to run from one of them yet so I may be kidding myself.
Here's the deal. I built this one too large (longer story than that but
this will do). I'd like to back this up before I work through the steps
to reduce its size. I do not have enough space on our VM hosts to make
copies -- I have to dump this off to a non-VM NFS drive, work my magic
and THEN use the vConverter program...
If I had the disk space, I wouldn't even be doing this drill.
