While it's true that there's a whitelist for unobtrusive advertisements, ABP gives full control to the user to turn off the whitelist if they so choose. Personally, I don't see a problem with ads whose bandwidth consumption is negligible. It's the ads composed of large Flash movies that I don't care to load.
