Hello NLUG, Maybe most of you IT pros know this- At NAB in Las Vegas last month I found out to my dismay that when it comes to backup and archive software, there is a (pricey) difference.
I was looking at Archiware P5 at close to $1000 trying to weigh whether it's the backup software for our Spectralogic T50e LTO deck, thinking and assuming that back up and archive were the same thing. I found out that the archive software price is over $4000 which includes backup software for free and $650 annual support fee. XenData just started supporting the Spectralogic T50e; not sure of the price on that yet. Can anyone tell me other necessary useful money saving info? I was told (or sold) that LTO tapes hold out for 30 years. Is that correct? Thank you M -- -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "NLUG" group.
