Hi Jack, I just started using Cura a few weeks ago myself. I didn't have to install OpenGL but I'm also running it on a gaming tower that's built for 3D applications/ Virtual Reality. I really haven't messed with OpenGL. If you can dual-boot your laptop, Cura has a Linux version too. Trying it on a different OS may help determine if its a hardware limitation or a software dependency. Nice to know someone else in the group is 3D printing too.
