I can temporarily link everything with done.o, and the linker will pick up the duplicate definition of done() in the cases where an executable is actually using a specialised version.
It's 2007. Nobody will mind if we start writing portable POSIX code. If there is a PDP-11 contingent left out there, they are hopelessly out-numbered anyway.
