I've been using a wrapper around "repl" for about 5 years that will parse the original message, match the identity against a list, and populate the reply (From:, Reply-To:, Fcc:, signature) as needed. Does your extension do anything about the mime and attachments problem when you reply to those ? E.g. when you reply to mail with an attachment you will get everything quoted in your reply mail.
