Just a couple days ago, I explicitly inserted the line:
export LC_ALL=en_US.utf8
into a file that gets sourced by every instance of bash. I did that to improve
my use of nmh-1.6-RC2's mhshow, on messages containing non-ascii, utf8
characters.
