The third nmh 1.8 release candidate is now available. It treats a set but
empty (null) HOME variable the same way as if it was unset. You can
download it here:

There is an accompanying .sig file for GPG verification.
To simply download, build, and test:
wget http://download-mirror.savannah.gnu.org/releases/nmh/nmh-1.8-RC2.tar.gz
&&
tar xzf nmh-1.8-RC2.tar.gz &&
cd nmh-1.8-RC2 &&
./configure &&
make check
