I have sequences for years within a folder, e.g. y98, and y24.  They
have to have a prefix to avoid clashing with message numbers as
sequences don't have a sigil whereas folders have ‘+’ or ‘@’.

But even if context or something else meant I could drop the ‘y’,
I'm not sure I would as it's a clue to the reader than 98 isn't
a message number.

So I wonder if you should move to prefixing with ‘y’ more widely to give
consistency; then the difference wouldn't niggle.  :-)
