[apologies for duplicate postings]
Metrum Institute spring/summer 2008 training course offerings include
three intensive, hands-on, courses. Two of these courses are repeat-
performances of popular topics, including essential skills in
population PKPD and Bayesian PKPD modeling methods. The third is a new
offering focused on Bayesian methods for analyzing odd-type PD data:
MI210: Essentials of Population PKPD Modeling & Simulation, May 19-21,
Philadelphia, PA
MI250: Introduction to Bayesian PK-PD Modeling & Simulation, July
16-18, Bar Harbor, ME *
MI255: Exposure-Response Modeling of Categorical, Count and Time-to-
Event Data Using Bayesian and Maximum Likelihood Methods, July 19-21,
Bar Harbor, ME *
(*Discounted group rate blocks for hotel rooms at the Bar Harbor
courses will be determined by April 1st. Later registrants will not be
guaranteed group rates.)
Attendance will be limited to 20 participants for each course.
Discounted course fees are available for academics/non-profits.
Please see brief course descriptions below and additional details at: http://metruminstitute.org/training/index.html

MI210: Essentials of Population PKPD Modeling & Simulation
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MI210 provides an extensive overview of essential topics in population
pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, including: nonlinear-mixed
effects modeling theory and implementation, data formatting
requirements, population model development, model evaluation
techniques, continuous PK-PD models, Monte Carlo simulation, and best
practices. Instruction combines didactic lectures with hands-on
exercises using R and the NONMEM® software.
Prerequisites: Basic understanding of pharmacokinetic and
pharmacodynamic principles, compartmental pharmacokinetic models,
introductory statistics, familiarity with the R or S language.
Applicable MI Courses include: MI120, MI101, MI201, or contact
instructor.

MI250: Introduction to Bayesian PK-PD Modeling & Simulation
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MI250 is an intensive, 3-day onsite course that provides an
introduction to Bayesian modeling and the practical use of WinBUGS and
R for PK-PD applications.
Prerequisites: Experience with PK-PD modeling and some familiarity
with nonlinear regression, mixed effects modeling and R (or S-Plus) is
requred. Applicable MI courses include: MI 210 and MI212.

MI255: Exposure-Response Modeling of Categorical, Count and Time-to-
Event Data Using Bayesian and Maximum Likelihood Methods
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MI255 provides and introduction to modeling of categorical, count, and
time-to-event data, and the practical use of NONMEM® and WinBUGS for
such applications.
Prerequisites: Experience with PK-PD modeling and some familiarity
with nonlinear regression, mixed effects modeling and R (or S-Plus) is
required. Prior experience with Bayesian modeling using WinBUGS is
desirable but not required. The course includes a short introduction
to Bayesian principles and WinBUGS. Applicable MI courses include:
MI210, MI212 and MI250, or contact instructor.
