Metrum Institute* is pleased to announce a new hands-on, intensive 3-
day course (MI260+) scheduled for September 2, 3, & 4, 2009 in
Cambridge, MA. This offering will combine an introduction to WinBUGS
for pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic applications, with a detailed
overview of Bayesian model-based meta analysis.
Getting Started with Bayesian PK-PD Modeling (Day 1): This
introductory course covers the basics of Bayesian modeling theory and
the use of WinBUGS for PK-PD applications, including: running WinBUGS
from R, nonlinear mixed effects models for PK and PD endpoints,
population PK, BQL data, and the new BUGSModelLibrary for PKPD
applications.
Model-Based Meta-Analysis to Support Decision Making in Clinical Drug
Development (Days 2 and 3): MI260 provides an introduction to model-
based meta-analysis of summary data or combinations of summary and
individual data, and the rationale for applying Bayesian modeling
methods to these problems. Hands-on modeling topics, using WinBUGS
include: dose-response models for landmark and longitudinal summary
and individual data, as well as population simulations from meta-
analysis models.

Hardware/Software: Participants will be expected to bring their own
Windows-based laptop, and software installation instructions will be
provided separately. All software tools are freely available or open-
source.
