Pharmacokinetic-Pharmacodynamic Scientist/Pharmacometrician

AstraZeneca is a major international healthcare business engaged in the
research, development, manufacture and marketing of prescription
pharmaceuticals and the supply of healthcare services. But we're more than one
of the world's leading pharmaceutical companies. At AstraZeneca, we're proud to
have a unique workplace culture that inspires innovation and collaboration.
Here, employees are empowered to express diverse perspectives - and are made to
feel valued, energized and rewarded for their ideas and creativity.

The arena

You will work as a Senior Research Scientist/Associate Principal Scientist
within the in-vivo section, DMPK, Local Discovery at AstraZeneca R&D Södertälje.

The role

In the drug discovery and early clinical development phase, compounds are
screened, optimized and selected for testing in humans. You can play an
important role in this process by establishing pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic
(PKPD) relationships in vitro, in vivo and through back and forward translation
of clinical data. Actively applying PKPD concepts to planning and coordination
of studies as well as analyzing the outcome using PKPD modeling is part of your
work.

You also will be responsible for gathering and presenting the PKPD results to
project teams. Furthermore, you will be working with understanding of the
correlation between in-vitro and in-vivo ADME properties and the prediction of
human pharmacokinetics. Collaboration with other team members and other
researchers within and outside AstraZeneca R&D is key in our drug discovery and
early development process, which means that you need to be able to represent
the department on scientific meetings and at project presentations.

Minimum experience

You hold a PhD or equivalent knowledge level within pharmacology, medicine,
physiology, bio-engineering, pharmacometrics or related disciplines with
relevant experience in pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic modelling.

* Advanced user of computer programs routinely used in modelling and
simulation like WinNonlin, Berkeley Madonna, NONMEM, R.
* Have interest in and knowledge of both the mathematical, physiological
and pharmacological aspects of modelling and simulation in drug discovery and
early development
* Are enthusiastic and have good personal communication skills and the
drive to interact successfully with colleagues at all levels and disciplines.

You need to be precise, ordered and focussed on your work. You should be
interested of problem solving. Also, you need to have excellent collaboration
skills. You need to have good experience with computer software and you need to
be able to express yourself in English, both orally and in written form.

Preferred experience/requirements

If you have experience in one or more of the following fields such as antibody
PKPD, disease modelling, optimal experimental design or systems pharmacology it
is an advantage.
