We would like to announce an opportunity for a Principal Pharmacokineticist in 
the Clinical Pharmacology Department at our Richmond, VA office at PPD.  The 
Clinical Pharmacology Department provides the clinical PK support necessary to 
elucidate the pharmacokinetics and PK/PD relationships in support of our 
client's new and generic drug development efforts.
The Principal Pharmacokineticist serves as a scientific leader for 
pharmacokinetic disciplines throughout the organization.  This position 
provides PK strategy consultation to clients for drug development planning and 
pharmacokinetic analyses.  In addition to managing his or her own projects, the 
Principal Pharmacokineticist will work with our pharmacokinetics team to assist 
our clients in the design, analysis, and interpretation of PK, PK/PD and 
population PK studies.

This position requires experience in clinical pharmacokinetic research in a CRO 
or a pharmaceutical company. The individual filling the position is required to 
be flexible and extremely adaptive as part of the responsibilities. The 
position requires one to identify priorities and shift resources to complete 
initial projects needing immediate attention. The individual must also be able 
to work effectively on several projects simultaneously. The studies must be 
conducted according to FDA guidelines, to insure acceptance by FDA.


Education and Experience:

  *   PhD or PharmD in pharmacokinetics, pharmacology or related field with 
appropriate pharmacokinetic and/or pharmacology coursework
  *   8+ years of experience in the Pharmaceutical, CRO industry or other 
relevant experience
  *   Experience in management of pharmacokinetic programs with a proven record 
of accomplishments
  *   Experience with medical, pharmaceutical, drug metabolism and clinical 
research concepts
Or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides 
the individual with the required knowledge, skills and abilities

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  *   Knowledgeable of regulatory guidelines as related to clinical 
pharmacology and pharmacokinetics areas of drug development
  *   Demonstrated knowledge of the drug development process
  *   Strong theoretical background in pharmacokinetics with experience in 
pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and modeling and simulation
  *   Ability to apply pharmacokinetic theory and concepts using relevant 
software such as WinNonlin, NONMEM, SAS, S-Plus, R, or other pharmacokinetic 
packages
  *   Good understanding of statistical methodology required in clinical 
pharmacology and pharmacokinetic trials
  *   Demonstrated initiative and motivation
  *   Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  *   Ability to effectively mentor staff to promote teamwork in a 
multi-disciplinary team setting
  *   Positive attitude and the ability to work well with others
Less experienced candidates may be considered for a less senior position.  This
