Dear all,

We have an exciting opportunity for a paid (10-12 week) Ph.D. student-level
internship in Pharmacometrics (PMx) at the Lilly Corporate Center (or remote as
appropriate). If interested in gaining hands-on experience with PMx modeling
and statistical analysis of clinical trial data at different stages of drug
development, please email your resume to Nicholas Ellinwood
([email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>).

Position: Internship in Pharmacometrics
This is a paid Ph.D. student-level internship at Lilly Corporate Center in
Indianapolis (or possibly a remote internship) and requires a 10-12 week
commitment in 2021. Start time is negotiable.
Department Overview:
The scientists in the department of PK/PD & Pharmacometrics at Lilly are
leaders in research and development throughout the value chain from preclinical
lead molecule identification to clinical post-drug approval with the goal of
identifying and developing the right drug with the right dose for the right
patient and living the model-informed paradigm of drug research and development.
Learning Objectives:

  * The project will aim to understand how pharmacometric modeling
predictions are impacted by different mathematical, statistical, and/or
computational approaches to account for placebo effects observed in clinical
trials.
  * This is an exciting opportunity to get hands-on experience with
statistical analysis of clinical trial data of different stages of drug
development as well as biological and physical systems.
  * The intern will have the opportunity to work closely with scientists and
modelers in the Pharmacometrics (PMx) group and learn about disease modeling in
the autoimmune space.
Basic Qualifications:

  * Currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program in a quantitative discipline, such
as pharmacometrics, bioengineering, biostatistics, biomathematics, or
equivalent degree, and have completed 2 years of post-graduate study.
Required Skills:

  * In-depth understanding of biology and pharmacology.
  * Knowledge of a diverse set of advanced statistical and computational
concepts and methodologies, ideally with practice applying them in the R
programming language.
  * Strong interpersonal, writing, and presentation skills.
Preferred Experience:

  * Exposure to other PMx models, including population PK, PKPD, and QSP
models.
  * A demonstrated interest in applying state-of-the-art statistical methods
to clinical and biological data and learning about new cutting-edge
quantitative fields.
  * Proven data science skills with a familiarity with machine learning
algorithms.
  * Strong mathematical and computational background with experience running
simulations of systems of ordinary differential equations.
