I have to agree with the camp that says the tools are there, but honestly they don't make things any easier nor are they a solution.
I run FireFox with NoScript and BetterPrivacy installed. NoScript makes it pretty apparent just how much cross-site stuff goes on that without enabling things that make you go "hmmmmm" -- the site just doesn't work so well. I too don't mind at all if say, Google.com want to set cookies for my visit while I'm browsing Google.com (or some such site) but when the cross-site kicks in and I just want to watch an embedded video someone has referenced and I have to allow a zillion 3th party sites in the process... Ugh. Now we internet Savvy users know what to do - but honestly, there's the generations behind us using their smart phones that just have no clue whatsoever. Yikes. -Ben
