Three-time Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Edward Albee -- whose works include "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" -- has died at the age of 88, according to his personal assistant Jakob Holder.

Albee died Friday afternoon at his home in Montauk, New York, after a short illness, Holder said.
