Bryan,

I know you answered this for yourself but just as a general rule, you  
use the end of day amount from your bank statement as the amount for a  
starting balance transaction. The date on that transaction should be  
the day before any new transactions are added to MoneyWell.

If your bank supports direct connections, MoneyWell can now generate a  
starting balance transaction when it finishes querying the bank for  
transactions.
