Hi Seb,

MoneyWell shows individual split children on the transaction list so  
you can see what you are spending in each bucket (other apps just show  
the parent and you have to expand it to see anything). The general  
flow for creating a split is as follows:

  1. Add a new transaction
  2. Set the payee and bucket to the reflect the primary purchase info  
and the amount to the full amount of the receipt
  3. Click Create Split
  4. Change the amount to the what was spent on the primary bucket  
expense
  5. MoneyWell creates a new line and you can assign another bucket to  
this and optionally change the amount again
  6. Continue doing step 5 until you have all your breakouts.

If you have received cash back from a purchase, use the "cash only"  
checkbox in the split table to allow you to track all the uses of that  
cash in your cash account.

The View menu has options for showing the full split total or the  
individual child amounts on the transactions list. When you are  
reconciling an account, MoneyWell always shows you the total  
transaction amount and hides the split children so you can match it up  
your statement.
