Hi Blaine, I like to enter my variable bills one at a time when I know the amount and when I'm going to pay it. If the amount is static, I set it up as a recurring transaction. You do need to flip a transaction to open when you pay it. There are keyboard shortcuts for these toggles that you can see if you look at the context menu for the transaction list (right-click on a transaction).
