If you are just entering transactions as they occur, then the act of adding the transaction and assigning it to your income bucket will fill it. You can allocate your income at any time after you have money in your income buckets.

Just enter your transactions from Jan. 1, 2009 and start from there. If you don't want to even do that, then start your cash flow on Feb. 1 and just use MoneyWell as a register until that time.
