To save space and eliminate clutter, MoneyWell has just a single column for the amount. There is a type column and you can sort by that as well, just click on the header above the graphical +, -, or [123] types. I purposely didn't include all the different types because they do not help manage cash flow and MoneyWell is all about proactive cash flow management, instead of the traditional Quicken method of "printing reports before you know what you spent." MoneyWell is definitely not like those other financial apps. :) > 2. I would also like the ability to remove categories. For example, I > don't use checks, so I have no need for the "#" category. This is actually more accurate than a running balance because financial institutions don't process individual transactions as they happen but instead wait until the end of business day cut off to post your balance. The running balance has been popular because it emulates the old checkbook register we have used but isn't really correct in relation to the world of banking. You can shrink the width of the check reference column (or resize any column) if you don't use it. > 3. Next to the account name, it states my balance without the pending > transactions. The daily balance amount at the bottom will show both an amount with the pending transactions and also next to it a reconciled balance (which can never include pending transactions because that's a conflict of status). There will be some more amounts and information shown in future versions. > 4. Lastly, I would like to see the ability to have a color for a > specific bucket. I'm afraid adding some of these to MoneyWell wouldn't make it "perfect" but rather just another Quicken clone. Please try to look at this as a different way of managing your finances. Think of the time you spend entering and analyzing your financial picture and then think what it would be like if you simplified it. That's where MoneyWell comes into play. There is much more coming as far as features but the core design will stay as it is. MoneyWell will continue to focus on proactive cash flow management and the envelope budgeting method. Give it a chance and see if you don't end up less time on managing your finances and more time enjoying spending your money because you have more to spend.
