When I download new transactions from my bank, MoneyWell sets both the
transaction date and the cleared date to the date that was in the
download. Seems logical enough. However, for some transactions
(especially checks), I want to set the transaction date to the date
that was on the check, while leaving the Cleared date to the date it
hit the bank.

When I change the transaction date, however, MoneyWell always insists
on changing the Cleared date as well. So I end up having to look at &
remember the Cleared date, change the transaction date to the
appropriate value, and then change the Cleared date back to what it
was originally. This is a little bothersome.

Can this behavior be changed (so it doesn't automatically update the
Cleared date when you change the transaction date), or am I looking at
this the wrong way? Is there a better way to accomplish what I'm
trying to do?
