Chris, I also have noticed several bugs in the split detail that become apparent when you don't enter the data right the first time.
Here's a work-around to get it to work for you that won't require you to retype everything: 1) Select the split parent 2) Change the Split Transaction Total to some value other than -1543 3) In the main transactions list, delete both children for $187 and ($374)--or whatever ($374) became after you amended the total 4) Select the split parent 5) Change the Split Transaction Total to -1543 6) The -187 amount will appear and you can assign the bucket as required.
