According to my understanding, physical machines have many hardware devices, which takes OS some extra time to detect and initialize the hardware device. While we usually run the VM with much less hardware devices than physical machine, which can save some time to boot up.

(Because of no enough real machine, sometimes I use virtual machine to test the setup and install function. And the real machine is absolutely more power than the real machine.)
