Hi all. I’m the lead developer for Komodo Edit (the free open-source editor) and Komodo IDE at ActiveState. I wanted to announce that the newest versions of Komodo, 7.0.2, have just been released.
If you've had issues with previous versions, try Komodo 7.0.2 as we have fixed breakpoint problems when debugging Node.js applications, as well as making Node.js debugging faster. If you haven't tried it yet, Komodo 7 has excellent editing, syntax checking, code intelligence and debugging support for Node.js. The debugger can be used locally or remotely, connecting with the Node V8 runtime to show variables, set breakpoints, modify objects or view the call stack. Komodo supports code completion for the core Node.js libraries, as well the CommonJS module specification for importing Node.js modules. Other new features in Komodo 7 are syntax checking for embedded sub- languages (ie. CSS or JavaScript within HTML docs), collaborative (ie. multi-user) editing, syncing of settings across multiple computers, and cloud deployment/integration with ActiveState’s Stackato platform. I should note that Komodo Edit is completely free and has syntax checking and code completion. The IDE has the other features noted above, along with a lot more, like source code control, database integration and a regular expression tool. The IDE is not free, but there is a free trial: http://www.activestate.com/komodo-ide If you’re looking for a good Node editor, try out Komodo and let me know what you think.
