It isn't like there is a vast amount of these to chose from. Easysync from EtherPad would have been the only I know of technically suitable (JavaScript, OpenSource). Also it isn't that complicated but a fundamental backbone of how the whole program is structured, its more than just some string that are synced, its a complete structured data tree.
