Hello folks. I'm feeling quite drawn into node.js as the concepts make sense and I like the idea of one language from front to back. As I learn, I'd like to work on a medium sized project for my charity as I learn best by doing and practicing.
I come from a PHP/MySQL background. THE PROJECT I wish to build an image gallery where many photographers can upload many pictures simultaneously. The application should create a grid of grey boxes and a progress bar should appear as each picture is uploaded and a small thumbnail displayed once each picture has been uploaded. As soon as each picture is uploaded, visitors can view these and start tagging the picture with meta data, which in turn can be searched upon. So for example one photographer might be uploading pictures of a blood donation session in London while another might be uploading images from a charity walk in Manchester. Visitors to the site at the time would see these "popping" up image by image as they are uploaded. Node.js is said to be good for long running processes and sharing of data between multiple users in "real time". Would Node.js be appropriate for this kind of gallery? Any advice and guidance would be highly appreciated. -- Job Board: http://jobs.nodejs.org/ Posting guidelines: https://github.com/joyent/node/wiki/Mailing-List-Posting-Guidelines You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "nodejs" group.
