There's nothing wrong about it. The basic idea is quite natural :) No one owns it. In a sense, it's a part of folklore. The thing is: we have been discussing the same idea here ( just 4 items below this thread) for entire month already. And we discussed the previous one (mesh.js) here about 1.5 years ago. It's very much similar to your current state.
We can both save time if we join efforts. Does it make sense? But: design comes first. I have an open issue on github, maybe you can chime in? Or, of course, you can proceed with your own way...
