I found myself wanted to use the events pattern to 'register' handlers for async-style execution. I created https://github.com/cpsubrian/node-eventflow which is just wrapper around the async module. It provides serial, parallel, waterfall, and invoke methods. I use it to great effect in combination with regular ole' emit.
