Yes, this is a known issue, and it's the reason why v0.10 is not out yet. The problem is not (primarily) deopts in the Readable class. Although, those classes are doing a bit more work than necessary, and can be further optimized, there are hotter code paths to optimize, which ought to have a bigger impact.
