Not at all. Because we have different preferences, themes would be a great solution and not that difficult to implement. The Dillinger web app, for instance, uses local storage and sets the custom css styles using jquery on startup. BTW. Meanwhile I've added css layout breakpoints to support mobile devices and retina displays.
