I'm running node inside a Linux VM, on my Mac OS laptop. I'd like to debug
node. For some reason I can't get the debugger protocol to be forwarded
over a port.

Is there something special about how the protocol works, or what
connections node will accept? I can forward every other service I try.

I'm pretty sure this isn't a misconfiguration on either end, there's just
something fundamental about the networking I am not understanding.

I am already aware I can run node-inspector inside the VM, and then
interact with its web interface, but I wanted to debug it from a Mac OS IDE.
