emit() is synchronous and calls all current listeners for the particular 
event, one after the other. So after emit(), all listeners for that event 
have finished, unless of course by "finished" you mean including any 
asynchronous things the event listeners may have started. If the latter is 
the case, that's much more difficult to tell.
